    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Davenport Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WWC.2ACI/3234 Message Board Post: One of the Davenport lines in America originated with Davis Davenport born about 1660 in Virginia. Parents unknown. Davis is believed to have six children - Martin, Thomas, Ann, John, Richard, and Elias. One of the theories is that this line came from Ireland. No proof found yet. I am the administrator of the Davenport Surname DNA Project. One of our goals is to obtain DNA samples from Davenports around the world to see how we are related. We are trying to get participants in Ireland to see how they compare to our Davis Davenport and other Davenport lines. If you are a Davenport or know a Davenport you can find more information at http://www.DavenportDNA.com or contact me directly at [email protected] Thank you Bill Davenport

    3. > > >I have just installed VetoMail an anti spam filtering tool. VetoMail is free to evaluate for 30 days. > I have received a number of these lately as people try to limit the spam going into their mail box. We all get it. I had 40 out of 80 emails this morning that was spam. However, these programs automatically send mail to everyone who sends you an email, including mailing lists. Everyone who posts to the list will get one. I find them just as annoying as spam and to me they are the same, unsolicited mail. So, this is a warning to any listers who are thinking about this or other programs similar to the above email. If the list gets one, or if anyone on the list reports to me that they received one after they posted to the list, you will be removed from the list and you will be put on the 'reject' list which means you cannot subscribe to the list automatically, you will need to request subscription through me and assure me you have disabled the spam program. Thanks for your cooperation. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, listowner http://www.connorsgenealogy.com Professional Genealogy Research All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton 2002

I wonder if this could be a younger James, working close to where he met Margaret( she was from CT) the dates are close. And could it be that the older Julia was his mother. He may just have been born in Illinois, and moved east at a young age. There is no mention of anyone older in the home in the 1880 census. They were married in 1875, in western MA, but not far from parts of CT. I will save what you have found and try again in Boston when I am there. Thanks again. Betsy Horst

I did find the following family in the 1870 Census living in Vernon, Tolland County, Connecticut. Pg. 43, Lines 39 and 40 Crenan, James, age 23, M, W, b. IL, Works in Mill Crenan, Julia, age 51, F, W, b. IRE, Keeping House Pg. 44, Lines 1 and 2 Crenan, Julia, age 21, F, W, b. CT, Works in Mill Miner, Patrick, age 26, M, W, b. IRE, Stone Mason If Julia, age 21, is a daughter and James' sibling her age indicates they would have been in CT in 1850. The 1870 census shows Julia was married in Feb 1870 and Patrick was married in Feb 1870. Perhaps Julia didn't take Patrick's last name. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Mike

" Kilkenny, County, Margaret Deady Hayden is buried at Caherlesk, April 27, 1817. She was born in Tipperary about 1750. Her father is James Deady, and her siblings Patrick, David, Thomas. I'm trying to find Patrick who imigrated to the Ohio, USA, late 1700's to 1850." The only Patrick Deady born in Ireland and living in the United States in 1880 was a Patrick Deady born 1820 in Ireland and living in Worchester, MA. At the time of the census he was a widower. There were no children living with him however there were a number of other Deady individuals born in Ireland and in MA living in the Worchester at the time of the 1880 census. BTW: Margaret Deady , my wife's 3rd great grandmother, married Daniel Hayden of Caherlesk in Dublin on 17 September 1771

Surnames: Dunphy,Smith,Young Classification: Birth Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WWC.2ACI/3229.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Thank you again for the reply. We're not denying any information that's given to us.We were always told that Francis and his family came over from Ireland.Birth record says that he was born in NYC while census information says that he was born in NJ.We do know that Francis lived in NYC,he and his wife lived at the home of her father's in Queens County,NY.My grandfather never had a birth certificate and when his family came through Ellis Island that the papers were filled out saying that he was born here in USA.My mom remembers hearing her mother telling her that my grandfather was dressed up like a girl to keep the family together.Accoring to my mom it was just Francis,Mary,Agnes and their mother and if people knew that Francis was actually a boy they would of sent him off some place else.My mom also recalls hearing her mother telling her that my grandfather was so sick that his mother had a hard time bringing him through Ellis Island so they could find a place to live in NYC. We often questioned ourselves why would Francis Dunphy lie about where he was born?? Why would they make up such a story.I find census records to be inaccurate. Thank you for the suggestions.I will persue the idea,if I can.
