HI Trish, I don't see references to Danesfort too often so I felt I had to reply! My ancestors are also from there and I checked my info and found I have a Mary Walsh listed as a baptismal sponsor for my Maher line in 1829- possibly a mother to your Michael? My other line is Prendergast/Pendergast and other names listed as sponsors are Bryan, Reddy, Burke, Fleming, Ryan, Fannan, Power, Clarke, Skeehan,Kennedy, Lawler, Kelly, Stevenson, and Stanley. If you have any info, please let me know........Maryann Lane ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 20, 2004 11:03 PM Subject: [KILKENNY] Walsh Carrol correction help needed > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Carrol Walsh Welsh > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WWC.2ACI/3280 > > Message Board Post: > > It now appears after all these years, the Michael Walsh I have been researching was born circa 1829 not 1825 to Michael Walsh ( Welsh) and Ellen Carrol Danesfort Kilkenny. > Any help with censors etc for this time would be gratefuly received. > Regards from Trish down under. > :-) > > > ==== IRL-KILKENNY Mailing List ==== > Join an Ireland list that discusses Irish genealogy, history, and culture. > http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/IRL/IRELAND.html > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. I have been reseaching my KINNEY line and have a MARY HINES married to my ggggrandfather WILLIAM KINNEY who were both born in Co. Kilkenny. WILLIAM was born in 1809 and MARY in 1815. Would love to share in formation with anyone researching this line. Thankyou!
Hello from the States! I am interested in finding out about any reference to the surnames Nash, Gadsden and Bradley. I found some information on a Waterford site that mentioned that alot of the bacon/pork came from Iverk, Kilkenny and that caught my attention! You see, the families of Nash and Gadsden ran a bacon merchant shop in Waterford. We (a fellow researcher) and myself are trying to find out more about this business. We are trying to find a definitive connection between her Gadsden's and my Nash's. The Bradley's marry into the Nash line. The time frame is around the late 1700's to the mid 1800's in Waterford. I don't know when my Joseph Nash appeared in Waterford but he was born in Worcestershire, England in 1787. He died in 1837. I would appreciate any help in this search! Glad to give more details if needed. Take care, from sunny but cold Maryland, Judy
To Maryann and Cathy who were so kind as to reply to my question about John Kelley and Anna Hines in Kilkenny around 1820: I'm fairly sure they never left Ireland. Their daughter Margaret's obit implied that she left Kilkenny alone. She married James Pendergast in New York State, probably Livingston County, and AFAIK lived there the rest of her life. This means the wedding photo in Kilkenny probably is not her. I must admit that I'm not 100% sure they did not marry in Ireland, but it seems unlikely. More research needed, obviously. I agree about spelling variations. We must always try them. Thanks again. Carol McGann in St. Augustine, FL
