Hi everyone, what's the chances of finding my convict ancestor, with no town of origin?. Catherine Byrne was born in Kildare in c1820, Possible parents named as Mary McDonald and John Byrne. She sailed to Australia in 1839 after being convicted of stealing, she was a kitchemaid.. That's the total sum of my knowledge of her. Any chance of a process of elimination from all parishes?? She married William Reed (Read) in NSW in 1841. I've checked the Griffiths Evaluation 1851 for all civil parishes in Kildare with a John or Mary Byrne. Will that cover people of RC religion? I've printed off all the Mary and John Byrne's that appear, slow and laborious, but I'm tenacious!! Any advice appreciated. Cheers Janine South Australia.
