Hi Kildare List, My name is Allannah and I am trying to find information on my gr gr grandmother Mary Ann WHELAN (sometimes WHALAN) who was born in Kildare c1823. Her parents were Stephen WHELAND? and Bridget LAUGHLAN. Mary Ann WHELAN came to Sydney Australia in 1839 on board the ship "North Briton/Britain". Mary Ann worked as a nurserymaid for Mrs. P LONG. Mary Ann married Timothy FAHY in 1842 at Liverpool near Sydney. The couple settled near Cooma NSW where they raised their children. Mary Ann died (in childbirth) in 1861, husband Timothy FAHY died in 1865. Do any of these surnames ring any bells please?
