Thank you to those kind Listers who answered my request as to the were-a-bouts of the village/town of Clane. I know it is classed as a City now. >> Jill, Clane was classified as a town in the Townlands Listings of the mid-1800's, so it was probably in the same category a few decades earlier when the Irish population was even greater. As for Clane being a City....... only in the residents' dreams <gr>. Clane doesn't even make it onto the list of towns and cities in Ireland (2002) with populations over 3000.
