Hi everyone! I just recently found out that one of my ancestors may have come from County Kildare, and I was wondering if anyone had information about the family. My ancestors name was Valentine McLaughlin, however there are many variant spellings including McLoughlin. He was born about 1827. Sometime between then and 1849 he migrated from Ireland to Scotland, and then on to the United States in 1852. To the best of my knowledge he was presbyterian. His first chlid was named Thomas, so if he followed the naming tradition that would mean that his father's name was Thomas McLaughlin. I have no proof for this other than the common naming system. If anyone has any information about the McLaughlin / McLoughlin / etc. family from County Kildare please let me know! This is the first line in my family that comes from Ireland, so I'm very unsure of what I should do... any suggestions would be great! I'm spending the semester in London so I may even get a chance to visit! ~Michael Messinger~
