The PILOT is located under search records top left of main page: sometimes you just put in the name and Ireland rather than filling in all information this was you get US Census, passenger lists as well as the bmd's. It can also be used for Australia as well. These are some examples: Sophia Mary Pidgeon birth estimate 1862 based on age at death 1862, aged 12. The Registration District is Naas which covers areas of Kildare or Wicklow Mary born 1871 and died 1871 Celbridge Registration District covers areas of Dublin/Kildare and Meath Andrew born 1864 died 1864 Celbridge Registration District Counties same. Note the Registration district were based on the Poor Law Union areas, and the record below for William Pidgeon was in the Poor Law Union of Celbridge. For descriptions of these divisions see www.from-ireland.net Ireland was divided into Diocese, Barony's, Civil Parishes, Civil Registrations, Poor Law Unions, Parish's had Townland's the smallest and oldest area. from-ireland also have civil registrations for 1864. There is also a gravestone page etc. Griffith Valuations of 1853 shows Pidgeon's all told 39, mostly Dublin, 2 Cavan, 4 Armagh.Although it is later than the dats you give it indicates what families were still living in the 1850's. www.failteromhat.com and www.askaboutireland.ie William Pidgeon tenant of Samuel Jones, Killadoon Parish, Crippaun Property 2. house office and land 110A acres (pretty significant for the day) William Keegan, Parish of Killadoon, Ballymakealy Upper Townland sub-letting from David White (who let from Wm.Spelman)property 1e house and garden Found no McMahon/Mahony or Quinn in this parish There is also a data base of bmd's on line where you can look people up by name and get a year of birth for which you can get a copy. You would need to try all the options as just because you know now a marriage that took place in Co. Kildare it could be recorded in a different County. I cannot put the name of this resource on the message board due to rootsweb policy but if you want to look it up you can contact me via regular email codeannette@yahoo.ca but you have to keep in mind a great deal of Ireland's records no longer exist or are damaged back around the late 1700-'s and early 1800's. Also anything after 1864 becomes a civil registration for both RC and Protestant by law. The records for these would be at the General Registry Office in Dublin City. www.groireland.ie The only guaranteed way of matching up siblings are through the Parish records where the parents names are recorded. I looked for Church of Ireland records of marriage which were recorded from 1845 but NONE recorded. There are 3 births in Kildare births between 1864-1875 but the parents would of been born in the 1840's. Still not early enough for your family. RC bmd's were not required before 1864 to register births other than in parish/church records. There are few records on www.censusfinder.com but there are a few on www.igp-web.com Annette Code 'genealogy for fun' Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
