Catherine was a convict, sailing to Botany Bay in 1839. She changed her name around the time of civil registrations here in Australia. On her death certificate her parents are written as John Kennedy (the name she chose for herself) and Mary McDonald. I can not ascertain whether she has just changed her father's name in keeping with her current one, or whether all names are ficticious. If anyone can shed a light on a Catherine Byrne born (I think December - as written on her tombstone but that could be another fib to put people like me off the track lol) 1820 who disappeared off the census by 1839 and may have parents John and Mary. Needle in a haystack I know but here's hoping. Cheers Janine Halls Creek West Aust Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
