Author: AnnetteCode Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.kid.general/2273.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Civil Registrations 1864-1875 Latter Day Saints Note spellings: Parents: Edmond Roache and Catherine CArrigan(always spelt) Michael Roache born 22 Feb 1869 #766 Tipperary, Registration District, Tipperary Micro film #101182 Mary Roche born 10 Sept, 1871 #680 Tipperary RD #255828 Bridget Roche born 10 Sept, 1871 #680 Tipperary RD #255828 There appears to be 2 Edmond Roche/Roache's one from Tipperary Registration District and the other Emly Registration District. Honoria was born in 1867 to parents Edmond Roache and Catherine Haly/Healy of Emly Registration District (looked this up as Honoria an unusual name and her father was Edmond) Edmond Roche son of Patrick Roche and Eliza Shine #724 Caher Registration District, Tipperary. (I thought Edmond would be the son of Edmond) Patrick although was born in 1864 did not make it onto the civil registrations on this CD Note that the micro film numbers are not nessesarily the same as those on the PILOT even though they are the same people, don't know why? If I could suggest you also post on the Tipperary message board as this is posted on the Kildare board. Also if looking for family/connections that if you change your email address to make sure to change your profile so people can contact you. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: AnnetteCode Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.kid.general/2273.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There are a great numbers of some of these names in Tipperary. www.eircomphonebook.ie 3 Roach, 53 Roche, and 11 Corrigan, 58 Crowes. While waiting for contacts you might want to do a bit of research. If want to try writing letters I would go for the 11 Corrigan's first. Then chose perhaps a 1/2 doz. Roche's. You may find a bit of going back and forth between the two spellings of Roache/Roche even if they have the same parents, spellings were flexible in the 1800's. If these people stayed in Ireland you may find the www.familysearch.org 2/09 PILOT program helpful as it gives death records and dates of birth based on age at death up to the 1950's. It can help with those who emmigrated as well having some passenger records and the US 1880,UK, and Canada Census. The main page has some records of births with parents names depending on dates. PILOT is under 'search records' on the main page, drop down menu. eg:There were 113 Bridgets, 174 Mary's Bridget Roche born 1871 Film No. 101048, Vol. 13 Pg. 680 Tipperary Registration District Mary Roche born 1871 Film No. 101048, Vol.13, Pg. 680 Tipperary Registration District Bridget Roach born 1871 Film No. 101048 Vol. 18 Pg.473 Don't just go by spellings, I would imagine all the children would be Tipperary Registration District which should help choose the right ones. These films can be seen at any Latter Day Saints Heritage Centre, phone to make sure film is available or needs to be ordered. I have a set of CD's of the LDS Civil Registrations from 1864-1875 and I will see which children are there. These civil records would also be available at the General Registry Office in Dublin www.groireland.ie On a bmd website for Tipperary S., There was a 1871 record for Mary Roche only one, same for a David Peter Roche also the following Roache: Patrick 1864, Honoria 1867, Edmond 1868, Michael 1869, Roche: Bridget 1871 Mary 1871 and James 1870. On the website www.from-ireland.net has an insite search plus there are a number of birth, marriages and deaths listed and checkable for the Registration Districts of Borrisokane, Callan, Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel, Clogheen, Clonmel, Nenagh, Parsonstown, Thurles, Tipperary. These usually followed the boundaries of the Poor Law Unions. The Poor Law Union for the townland of EMLY and Parish of Emly was Tipperary so you could start there, however, I didn't find any on Tipperary. The Griffith Valuations which you probably already have shows how many of each of your names are attached to rental properties of the time. You an find these at www.failteromhat.com ( directories)or www.askaboutireland.com ( property descriptions) Parish records necessary for births before 1864, both RC and Protestant at the National Library in Dublin (LDS microfilm these) up to 1890, RC after that date in local custody, Protestant to 1899 at the Church of Ireland, Representative Library in Dublin, after that date in local custody. All need to be searched in person. www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom Ireland County www.igp-web.com County Annette Code 'genealogy for fun' Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The PILOT for the above website found under 'search records' has 8 Lowe's, 8 Ellen Johnson's, however, dates don't fit. A bmd data base for Kildare shows few records John Lowe's only after 1872 and a gap for Ellen Johnson's as follows 1828 1829 gap to 1864. No marriages for either name but that would occurred in the gap. This may mean that Parish records have not survived. A census substitute called Griffith Valuation 1853 should show the parents of Lowe and Johnson. The only Lowe's in Co. Kildare are the three below: John Lowe, Grangeclare Parish, Watergrange Townland George Lowe, Kilmeage Parish, Allenwood,N. Townland John Lowe, Thomastown Parish, Thomastown.E. Townland There were 27 Griffith records for Johnson but none in the same Parish. www.failteromhat.com (directories) and www.askaboutireland.com (land descriptions) In an 1824 directory George Lowe was listed in Rathangan as a Phys.& Surgeon, other directories 1881, 1894. I finally have Joseph Hughes birth. Mother was listed as Margaret Larrigan and John Hughes in Kildare. Only Margaret is listed in Westmeath...father Hugh Larrigan mother Ellen Parkeson. I knew his mother was Lar??gan from Joseph's marriage in Ottawa CA and his father John Hughes. Finding his birth was great...then I found his parents John Hughes and MARY Larrigan in Athy, Kildare. Well now that's a problem because there are two girls born to Hugh and Ellen ..one is Mary born 1827 and Margaret born 1822 and another Mary born to Bryan Larrigan and Margaret Lynch 1827. I'm leaning toward 1822 Margaret daughter of Hugh. I was just thrilled to find out where Joseph was born and now know that he had sibs: Anne 1847 John 1849 James 1853 and Margaret 1855. It was costly to find this info out..but after years of searching...this was a gift to myself. I have even been in Kildare at the Horse farms and the Japanese Garden. It was soooo great.. All the Hughes were in Athy. Margarets L's birth was Westmeath. I cannot thank you enought for all your advise. I'm a newbie to the hop over the pond. I'm in NY and have searched soooooooooo long.... thanks so very very much. Jeannie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is only 1 Larrigan at 12 Cnock NaCreinegn, Kilcullen, Naas, Co. Kildare. However, you can look for other counties. There were few records for the name Larrigan in both a bmd data base for Kildare and www.familysearch.org and its PILOT found on the main page under 'search records' His father John should be in the Griffith Valuation of 1853 with Joseph born in 1851: There are 8 in all, Parishes of Clane, Morristownbiller,Rathernon and St. John, Athy Townland John Hughes, Parish of St. John, Townland Athy, house yard and garden 0 Acres 0 Roods and 18 perches. Old english land measurement. It looks as if you have Joseph Hughes birth certificate as there is one in 1851, and also has a father John Hughes. The Larrigan/Larigan births Mary 1819, Judith 1824, Essey 1836. There are none in the Griffith Valuations of 1853. However, there are a 29 in other Counties. www.failteromhat.com (with directories) and www.askaboutireland.com (land descriptions) You can try www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom Ireland Co. there isn't much for Kildare but also try www.igp-web.com It can take sometimes awhile before family members find your posting, if you changed your email address don't forget to post the change on the message board.
