Kildare, there is a Farrell family going back hundreds of years. The local historian, Mr. John Colgan, has done excellent research on the town and its inhabitants. Here is a link to some wonderful, searchable data on who lived where in the town between 1850 and 1967. You can search for Farrells. There are still plenty of Farrell descendants in the area today. http://www.kildare.ie/leixliphistory/documents/cancellation-books-leixlip-environs.pdf Another useful website is that of the county library http://kildare.ie/ehistory/ There is a gentleman working there who is a wonderful source of assistance should you wish to contact him, Mr. Mario Corrigan. Also, it's worth noting, if you ever have the chance to look up parish records for Leixlip, they originally fell under the parish of the neighbouring town of Maynooth. Best of luck with your search! I've managed to find this on www.familysearch.org Patrick Dwyer born 7th September 1864 to Owen Dwyer and Bridget Deegan in Rathangan, Kildare which is the village they all came from. I think this may well be William Dwyer's brother. Although I am not 100% certain. There is so much conflicting data for William's birth - I have it as 1862,63,64 and 68 variously. I have had no luck also finding a birth for a William in any of those years in Kildare. I have found no marriages for an Owen Dwyer to a Bridget Deegan - but again, there seems to be so many conflicting spellings of the Dwyer name I probably wouldn't know if I fell over it! Bridget's father was William Callan and she may have had a sister called Jane. I cannot thank you enough for all the time and help you have given me. I so very much appreciate it. Meath 1794, Limerick 1828, Cork 1829x2, Lough 1830, 1933 & 1839 Limerick, 1844 Cork, 1846 Dublin, 1866 Roscommon. Bridget Callan: Meath 1844, Cavan 1844, Lough 1845, 1846, 1847x2, Leitrim 1847. The Church of Ireland has parish registers to 1899 and after that in local custody. RC parish registers are in local custody. Most clergy now have email but not always cooperative. There are 1880's census for the UK, Canada, USA. Also the 2/09 Pilot project is found under search records that you can explore and you can find the UK there as well. I did find a marriage for a Bridget Callan in 1880 and 1885, four births 1832, 1855, 1859, 1884, microfilm numbers are found by clicking on the left underlined names. The microfilm can be seen at any LDS Heritage Center, the one closest to you will be found under Location on the main page. Birth for 1891 Jan-Mar Naas RD #101063, Vol.1 Pg. 805 There are many Doyle's and Connolly's in Kildare, Calverstown was next closest to Kilcullen and there are 8 Doyle's still living there. Ellen Mary July-Sept 1881 July-Sept #101058 Vol.2 Pg. 85 In libraries you might be able to find commercial directory's that listed everyone, I've seen one for 1931. Old Postal Directories etc.can be found in libraries. If none of those help just hang in there for descendants to find you.Track the men as women appear to disappear, and I would use Samuel. I've been to Ireland 4 times and still can't get back further than 1808 for one side of the family. Fitzgerald is a much more used name in Kildare than Fields. For example when the 1853 Griffith Valuation came out there were 77 Fitzgerald's and 17 Field's. www.failteromhat.com or www.askaboutireland.com There were 4 Parish's that Field's lived in Ballynafagh, Donadea, Kilcrock, Timahoe. Fitgerald's lived in all but Kilcock. Most lived in different townlands within the Parish's.There is a website for Kildare bmd's and within that are 42 James Fitzgeralds, 1664, 1678, 1761, 1784 marriages for James 1773 within the range you are speaking of. There are no Field'S recorded on that website but Field is recorded the dates as follows - no Christina (unusual name for the times) 1693 gap 1714-1718 gap to 1777. www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom Ireland Co. www.igp-web.com County - memorial inscriptions from gravestones sometimes the only thing left in some counties. Most records including parish records were destroyed in 1922 in a fire in a government building in Dublin, only those copied by parish or not sent to Dublin survived. RC records to 1890 are at the National Library in Dublin on microfilm and make up some of the records on www.familysearch.org there are birth records from ancestoral files, the International Index, and Pedigree Resource files. Author: jgjkelly Surnames: Kelly, Byrne Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.kid.general/200.197.203/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have come across your inquiry relating to the Kellys and Byrnes living in Co. Wicklow in the mid-1800s. The info. I have that may relate to these people and is as follows. My great g'father, Peter Kelly, was born and christened in Co. Wicklow on 19/12/1860 and married Annie Fitzgerald in the Catholic Church, Wicklow, Union of Rathdrum on 24/11/1879. Both of them then to Cooktown in the (then) Colony of Queensland - but on a date unknown. Peter K. died in Innisfail in the State of Queensland on 1/11/1930. Peter K. was the eldest child of John Kelly and Anne O'Hohan (Haghan or O'Haghan). John Kelly and Anne O'Hohan were married on 12/9/1859. Peter K's siblings (all younger than him)were - (Child - name indecipherable) (christened on 30/3/1862); Edward (christened on 3/6/1864); John (christened on 11/4/1869); Catherine (christened on 25/9/1871); and Anne (christened on 12/4/1874). Peter K's father, John Kelly, was born in Co. Wicklow and christened on 25/2/1838. His god-parents were John Byrne and Eliza Rourke, hence this response to the 'Byrne' inquiry. John Kelly, Peter K's father, was born in the late-1830s and had his parents' names recorded as John Kelly Snr. and Margret Farrell. John Byrne apparently had a family association with John Kelly Snr. and his wife Margret. I hope the above is of interest to those wishing to fill in the story of some of the Kellys and Byrnes of Co. Wicklow in the mid-1800s. Any information about these folks, of course, would be much appreciated - but especially information concerning the lives of Peter K's siblings. The material above was kindly provided by the good people in the Office of Arms, Dublin Castle in 1977. Many thanks to them.
