Author: dancer1951 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.kid.general/2296.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks very much, Annette - that would be great. I can then compare your list to mine. As I said, Christopher seems to have been born c.1869 - in 1901, he said he was aged 32, and in 1911, aged 39. And his parents definitely seem to have been Michael and Bridget - on Christopher's first Church (St. Andrews RC, Westland Row) marriage cert in June 1902, it was written "of Michael and Bridget, deceased" (no further details). Of his 2nd marriage at the Pro Cathedral in May 1909, it said his mother was Bridget McNally, and father Michael O'Rorke; however, I know the authorities sometimes got parents names mixed up with sponsors, but in this case, both marriage certs give the same parents. I have been trying to find Christopher/siblings for over 25 years, but so far no luck! Thanks again for your help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The problem about writing to the 35 McNallys is that I'm not absolutely certain yet that my Bridget was one - I would need further proof first. The death info you quote about Bridget O'Rorke, died 1901, is "my" Bridget, and I've since also found out where she's buried, which is great! Now Christopher (my grandfather) is another matter - I have at least 21 certs for Christopher O'Rorke/variants, but none have parents Michael and Bridget. He's an enigma! But hopefully one of these days I'll find him. Thanks again for your interest. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The numbers for both Murphy and the name OBrien is difficult. These are some resources you can work through. www.askaboutireland.ie and www.failteromhat.com for Griffith Valuation a census substitute from the 1850's that listed all those occupying land from Nobility down to the sub-tenants of land. Try and cross reference the two names to bring down the numbers. There are Barden's in other counties but not Kildare, there were shared parish's with other counties along the border areas. If the Rosey Paton is the right one and Newbridge is the correct place for all family names Murphy/Patten/Paton/Barden/OBrien. I need to go now. 3. hello everyone, Is anyone able to help? My ggg grandfather was William Brown, according to his military service records he was born c1839 in Timolin, near Ballitore, co Kildare. According to his marriage certificate (1863 Stoke Damerel, Devon) his father was also William; the certificate further says that William senior was a farm labourer at Crookstown. Is anyone researching this family, or able to give me any further details? I should at least like to know his mother's name. I know that William Brown is a very common name, but I was lucky enough to find his military records, so I am not without hope. Also I believe Timolin is a small parish so hopefully it is possible to trace him further. Thanking you all in advance for any help/advice, Christel Muncaster
