    2. John W. Keating III
    3. Thanks Kevin for both these and the Hyland information! Interesting... Would a (presumably) protestant Revd have been trained by the Jesuits? Family lore says the same man was a teacher, trained by the S.J.'s (Society of Jesus?). Doubly interesting, as his grandson was a devout Catholic. "'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice"... Cheers! 2. Oops-forgot the Hylands. Stephen Hyland :he testified at the summer 1798 assizes (court hearings) in Athy against William Kennedy for an attack on a chart school. "The evidence of Steven Hyland was extracted by Lt. Hempenstall of the Wicklow Militia through violence." Thomas Hyland of Kilbride was named on a list of leaders of the Kildare rebels provided to Dublin Castle on 7/4/1798. -----Original Message----- From: "John W. 3. Thank you so much for the information on the Floods. My GGGF Edward Flood lived in Kilcullen for a time before he died and was buried from Kilcullen. So this is great information. Many thanks, Paula M A2 >>> [email protected] 08/10/05 4:40 PM >>> No Coady, but there are several Floods. Andrew Flood was part of a gang in north Kildare that was "...publicly harboured by all the farmers and some of the gentlemen farmers". James Flood was part of a group from Kildare holed up in Dublin in 1803 that were trying to enlist the aid of the French to start another rebellion; a Mr. Flood of Kilcullen attended the first county committee meeting of the United Irishmen in January 1798 at Nineteen Mile House near Kilcullen; "one Flood of Kilcullen was the 'only man that gave orders to the United sergeants'".
