    1. Re: [IRL-KILDARE] Looking for William/Owen/Patt Dwyer - Feighcullen, Kildare
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: AnnetteCode Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.kid.general/2249.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The following are some generic websites for searching in Ireland: www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom Ireland County www.igp-web.com County Boths sites have a variety of information. www.kildare.ie/library has the history of Allen Parish if you haven't got that, there is an online electronic history with extracts of Allen Parish, however, the records don't include Dwyer and end at Dunne. Allen Parish served Kilmaoge, Rathernon, Feighcullen and Pollardstown. You can by the Feighcullen Church near Rathangan. www.hydeparkfhc.org I looked for a birth between 1864-1875 which are the years of Civil Registration on a CD I have from the Latter Day Saints, but not yours as the father of this Patrick Dwyer is William and mother Anne McNamara in 1875. None with a father Owen. The LDS website is www.familysearch.org and the new PILOT program is under 'search records', try the main page search first and then move to the PILOT this came on line in 2/09 and has births, marriages and deaths back to the late 1700's and up to the 1950's. You take note of the micro film numbers and take them to your nearest LDS Heritage Center for which you will find the location on the main page. The numbers are under the underlined names. PILOT eg: 11 Owen,Wexford; 34 William, Wexford /104 Pat, Wexford Kildare: Patt 31, William 18 0 Owen. MAIN: has 1880 UK, US and Canada Census: Owen O. Dwyer born 1848 Dublin, Lancs. Owen unmarried age 31 born 1850 Ireland, Liverpool, Lancs Owen 68, boarder born 1813 Ire.,7 Nash St. Liverpool,Lanc Owen 20, boarder, born 1861 Ire.,Prescott Owen 33, born Ire, 1848 Joiner, Broke, Liverpool, Lancs. Mary Ellen, wife 32 born 1849 Ann 3, born 1878 William H. 5, born 1876 Bridget Callen 14 records. ............................................................ Another Wexford resource no longer in operation but the data base is still on line shows many Owen Dwyer's these website do come up with the different spellings: There were Owen Dwyer 1818,1829,1839,1869 Limerick Wexford 1876; 1883 sligo and 1883 Leitrim. Marriages are listed for Owen Dwire to Murphy and Summers 1790 and Mary 1819; Dwyer, Catherine 1849-surname unreadable, Catherine Byrne 1850, Catherine Leary 1903; Patt Dewire 1871 born Wexford; Patt Dwyer born 1810 Wexford These spellings may have stayed the same or changed as at this period some names were still being spelt different ways this changed closer to the 1900's, unless the family immigrated and changed their name to short them, add O'as a prefix, or by sound of the person who recorded their names. I'm trying to remember the name of a bmd website from Rathangan where Feighcullen was located, I'm going to need to search for that. You have probably searched Griffiths Valuations 1850's, No Owen Dwyer's in Kildare; 1 in Wexford Killincooly Part of, Tinnaberna Townland 1853 (others but 1 Owen - could be your guy or father/grandfather) Callen only two in Kildare 1852: William Callen, St. Michael Parish, Athy Townland Patrick Callen, Lackagh Parish, Mountrice Townland You can access Griffiths through a variety of free websites www.failteromhat.com and www.askaboutireland.com The www.eircomephonebook.ie has no listings for the name Callen but 51 Dwyer's. Hopefully some of the above will enable you to find your family. Annette Code 'genealogy for fun' Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [IRL-KILDARE] New addition in IGP Archives
    2. Christina Finn Hunt
    3. We have just added lists of the Landowners for Kildare in the 1870's (with more than 1 acre). If this is of interest, go to: http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ Pick KILDARE from the main menu of counties. Then pick Census Substitutes. One of the reasons for using this list is to find out about your ancestor's Landlord. Landlord's kept files. If the landlord lived in Dublin for instance, their estate papers may be located in Dublin. Maybe the sold their property. Then you may find lists of tenants and other information in the Sale papers. To submit a record you have transcribed go to: http://www.genrecords.org/irfiles/ Good hunting, Christina

Author: dralac91 Surnames: Dwyer, Callan Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.kid.general/2249/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Seeking info on William, Owen and Patt Dwyer from Feighcullen, Parish of Allen, Kildare. William Dwyer was born around 1864 in Kildare, the son of Owen Dwyer - Owen may possibly have originated from Wexford, but am unsure. Patt Dwyer was possibly his brother, though am not sure. Their name has been variously transcribed as Dwyer, Wyer and Wyes in various documents. William Dwyer married Bridget Callan in February 1885 in the Parish of Allen, and they then came over to England and settled in Wigan, Lancashire where they had 6 children - Bridget, Margaret, William, Catherine, Owen and John Joseph. I am trying to trace the family further back in Ireland now - and would welcome any contact from anyone who knows anything about the Dwyer (or Callan) families and could help me out... While researching the oldest son, William, I ran across military papers for William's Army service during the American Civil War. William F Howe served in the 160th New York Infantry Regiment from 13 July 1863 to 13 July 1868. Attached is the name of the town/village William F Howe was born in. Does anyone know of this town/village? I think the scribe that wrote down the information wrote it like it sounded and that's where I need the expertise of local researchers. Kildare where my ancestor was born (1791) I got one lovely reply from an elderly gentleman because it seems they either knew one another or were related in some way. It didn't come to anything because their ancestors originally were from a different area but it at least it discounted one avenue of search. I enclosed a stamped self-addressed envelope. I have v little info on my g grandparents, Michael Morrissey & Catherine Hickey. From the 1901 census I can deduce that Catherine was born in 1860, likely in Castledermot. That's as far as I can trace at the moment! Any Hickey info you have would be much appreciated. Perhaps there may be a connection somewhere!
