Hi I had the film number 0926115 item 2 which covers The Catholic parish of Kill contains the civil parishes of Bodenstown, Forenaghts, Haynestown, Johnstown, Kerdiffstown, Kill, Oughterard, Sherlockstown, and Whitechurch. I know it gave the couples names the other two names are the wittnesses. I think the P maybe for the parish or they paid a pound for the marriage? LEWIS was not really common and I did find the deaths of some George LEWISes, but not in 1917. Perhaps the death was not in Ireland ? I checked all 4 quarters for 1914-1918 and found a few but they were all 50 plus years old. How OLD was George when he died in 1917 ? I only found these deaths : 1914 1Q, George LEWIS, 50, Dublin North 2-369 1915 none 1916 2Q, George LEWIS, 72, Carlow 3-298 2Q, George LEWIS, 86, Ballymena 1-71 2Q, George LEWIS, 76, Lurgan 1-510 1917 none 1918 none And I don't think that second marriage took place in Ireland, checked the filmed books [like the deaths, these are images of the original books published in Ireland] and from 1906 through 1921, there was absolutely no ATHAWES marriage anywhere in Ireland. Checked all quarters in all years and never did find that name once. About the only ATH combination was ATHY. Looking at the books allows you to check any other spellings that might be nearby. For example, if I'd found an ATHAWYS [which I didn't] it would be adjacent to where I'd be looking for ATHAWES. Odd spellings are harder to investigate with online databases. Write back if I can maybe help with locating a Marriage, Birth or Death in Ireland. My great grandfather was Michael Timmons, born Kildare according to his 1911 census (but born Dublin on his 1901 census, so I'm not sure!). Also not sure of his father's name, but I do know for certain that he called his first son CHRISTOPHER, and as you probably know, usually the first son is called after the father's father. Christopher was born in Dublin in 1869. Michael married Mary Kelly (I think from Carlow). I have the details of all of their children, starting with Christopher in 1869 and ending with my grandmother, Elizabeth Timmons, in 1880. Any connection, do you think? Look forward to hearing from you. Colette O'Rorke Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He died in 1917 and She then remarried to my 2nd Great Grandfather Samuel Wilberforce Athawes. I know that Samuel was in the Army and servied in Ireland. I am trying to trace Samuel on the 1901 census records for England or Ireland (Not sure where he was) and their marriege record. As on the 1911 census record it says that they have been married for 4yrs, where as the British Marriage Index states that they got married in 1917. Would be interested if they where married before 1917. They did have 5 children only one being born in Ireland at Newbridge, Kildare. Any suggestions or ideas would be really appreciated Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Unfortunately I don't know anything about her parents or siblings or even where she was married. Her husband, John Carroll was a train driver in Dublin and when he died she ran a dairy in Drumcondra. I have tried for years to find out more about her but so far I have failed. I can't see any connection with your Elizabeth but I cannot rule it out. Sorry I couldn't be ore help. I'm not sure whether our family trees might cross over. I have a Michael Dixon married to Ann Hanway/Hannaway, children including Joseph and Lawrence. I've also come across your Michael Dixon married to Eliza/Elizabeth Cribbons, and have found two children for them - Anna Maria born Feb 1875, and Annie born in Allenwood, Kildare in 1881.
