    1. [IRL-KIL-CASTLECOMER] Brennan - Walsh,
    2. Lynne Sisk via
    3. I have no proof that my Brennans were from Castlecomer, but have found some Brennans there who were stone masons. Several Brennans settled in West Troy, now Watervliet, Albany County, NY. The earliest that I know of were Garrett and Thomas Brennan, sons of James and Mary Walsh Brennan. The two boys arrived in West Troy in 1839 and the rest of the family followed in 1845. James and Mary's daughter Ann was baptized in Lisdowney in 1822, but daughter Catherine was baptized in Castlecomer in 1829. I think this James was the brother to Martin Brennan (wife - Mary Brennan). Son Thomas married Catherine Rynard in West Troy. I know of three sons of Martin and Mary Brennan. James (about 1815), my direct ancestor married Margaret Lahey in West Troy I 1847. Martin (about 1818) married Mary Bell in Kilkenny. Lawrence (about 1825) married Mary Feeny prior to 1850, but date and location are unknown. Most of the men in the Brennan family were stone masons.

    1. [IRL-KIL-CASTLECOMER] BRENNAN
    2. Michael via
    3. Ancestor s : Abin Brennan (1836-1917) Mary Kelly (1837-1916) married at Gazebo Church in Clough on 30 November 1867. I know his father was a collier called Michael Brennan as it is written on the marriage certificate but I can find no online record for either Abin's birth or baptism. Would be very grateful for any onfo as to how I go about findig if a local parish record exists & survives. I really need to discover his mother's name to begin piecing the fmaily together. Also trying to contact any living Brennans ( family nickname - Frank ) who might still live in Castlecomer - there are a lot of us Frank Brennans in the North of England now due to Abin's two sons coming across to Gateshead around 1900 to work in the mines as hewers but I have not found any Brennan (Frank) in Castlecomer yet. Have been told they may be around the crutinclogh area. Thanks On 07/11/2014 08:00, irl-kil-castlecomer-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > Today's Topics: > > 1. New list admin (Pat Connors) > 2. 1. [IRL-KIL-CASTLECOMER] Roll Call - Muldowney
    2. Mary Elizabeth Wagner via
    3.   Always looking for any new clues to my Muldowney family.  I'm still here after all these years!  Luckily, back before genealogy was online,  I was able to make contact with a distant relative who did some ground work by going to Co.Kilkenny at least two times.  She has passed away since.  So some of this info is mine, and some of it  from her original work. James Muldowney m. Mary Garvey  -  probably sometime between 1800-1808. I'm sure they had many children whose names I do not know. However I do know of two sons.   Edward (b.1810) and John (b.1812)     My line is Edward Muldowney's.   Edward married Mary Butler in Ireland.  After a couple of children, Edward and Mary, came to the US (port of entry to US not known) and settled in Schuylkill Co., Pa.  All the men worked in the mines. Edward's brother, John Muldowney m. Maria Dempsey -- Though not my direct line, I do have some info on them.  They also married in Ireland and, I believe, also came, with a few children, to the Schuylkill Co. mines. But they came to the US via Canada. John and Maria arrived in Schuylkill Co. after his brother, Edward. Brennan is also another associated name. I have some documents I created of a few early parish LDS films I researched some years ago for the Castlecomer area. I was looking for other possible names associated with Muldowney.   The info I collected includes marriages and births, along with witnesses and sponsors. I did this in the hopes of finding other connecting names, though I did not find much for my particular Muldowney.     So I have documents that may have names others might find of interest, most include townland names. Also, for some of the miners of Schuylkill Co., I have three documents someone shared with me years ago, with the request to continue to share. They are the cemetery records for St. Kieran's RC Church in Heckscherville, Pa. (two long documents), and one for St. Vincent de Paul's in Minersville.  For those who are interested, who may be unaware,  St. Kieran's RC Church was closed by the Archdiocese of Allentown, a few years back.  St. Vincent de Paul's church was re-named St. Michael the Archangel. If anyone would be interested in seeing other surnames in any of my LDS parish records in Co. Kilkenny,  or wish to see the cemetery records in Schuylkill Co., please email me privately. Thank you Pat for taking over this list. Mary Elizabeth Wagner
