    3. Thanks, Jill. Obviously that is not him. I really wanted the lighthouse keepers. Would they be part of the Coast guard necessarily? I know he, Patrick Moran, was definitely a ferryman/boatman on Valentia Island. Also does anyone know how to find out more information of a drowning that occurred Nov. 21, 1914? That is how and when Patrick Moran died. I checked some newspapers (The Kerryman) and could not find out anything. My great grandfather Patrick Moran was one on Valentia Island and I would be thrilled to find any information on him. 3. Have you seen this site - owner gave a talk recently to the GSI and pointed out that many Irish boatmen were reserves in the Merchant Navy - http://www.irishmariners.ie/ You may find something of interest there.
