Diane and all, For DNA, I have worked very successfully and happily with FTDNA, one of the first to get into the business, so very well developed. They are scientific types who care about the data. I found my irish cousins after 150 yrs. I have always been skeptical about Ancestry which strikes me as highly commercialized and primarily interested in the bottom line, their bottom line. Good at marketing more than research. Hence they can offer loss leader discounts. Sign up and they get you to pay up. The other trustworthy operation is a combo of IBM/national Geographics/Smithsonian. Hello I've had both YDNA and MTDNA done by Ancestry in the past. I've been considering having the autosomal test done by FTDNA. Also, I've been reading about their MTDNA test. Does anyone know if I would get more/better info from them if I took their MTDNA than I did with Ancestry? Thanks, Sandy -----Original Message----- From: Danahy Michael Sent: Wednesday, September 11, 2013 2:53 PM To: Diane O'Connor Cc: irl-kerry@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-KERRY] DNA Testing Diane and all, For DNA, I have worked very successfully and happily with FTDNA, one of the first to get into the business, so very well developed.
