Hello Michael, I have been waiting until there is an exact science. My family were granted land in Dromkeare, Waterville by the MCartthy Mor after the battle of the Boyne 1690. This fact is recorded in a family bible, my granduncle, who was a parish priest in Valentia, Killorglin and Ballymacelligot, Tralee. He was a very educated man, he studied in Paris and was a respected historian, he is buried outside the front door of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Ballymac. I know my DNA, I know I am unadulterated South Kerry blood / DNA My father married a lady from Bandon, Co. Cork, I have her full lineage going back to the 1700's What is my DNA going to prove, it may be a marker for other people who came from the area. I know that my family originated tin Glenflesk, Killarney prior to 1690 I may be a good marker to other people claiming the same heritage, Brendan On 5 Sep 2013, at 18:24, Danahy Michael wrote: > Me too Brendan and did you do the DNA and compare it with mine? > > > On Sep 5, 2013, at 11:41 AM, Brendan O'Donoghue wrote: > >> Hi Paul, >> >> My O'Donoghue family are from the Waterville area. >> >> My grandfather was the doctor in Waterville, my grand uncle was a >> teacher near Waterville. >> >> I would love more information on the books. >> >> Brendan >> On 5 Sep 2013, at 17:35, Paul Keroack wrote: >> >>> Peter, >>> >>> According to John Grenham's "Tracing Your Irish Ancestors," there >>> are only a few RC parishes in Kerry which kept sacramental records >>> before 1820, primarily in urban areas, such as Killarney. >>> >>> In other areas, oral histories preserve some earlier family history. >>> For instance, in the Waterville area, a retired teacher wrote >>> locally published books some years ago which recorded and preserved >>> such histories illuminating one of my family lines to before 1800. >>> >>> Perhaps the new IrelandXO effort to reach out to descendants of >>> immigrants may offer some possibilities. >>> >>> Paul Keroack >>> >>> >>> ________________________________ >>> From: Peter R Booth <pbo08596@bigpond.net.au> >>> To: IRL-KERRY-L@rootsweb.com >>> Sent: Thursday, September 5, 2013 2:38 AM >>> Subject: [IRL-KERRY] Myles CRONIN & Honora CLIFFORD c1820 Dunkerron >>> & Kenmare >>> >>> >>> I'm rejoining the list after many years hoping some new data may >>> be available. >>> >>> I've checked list archives and there don't seem to be many >>> researchers of the above surnames, despite Cronin being fairly >>> prominent in Kerry records.
