Barbara, That's what they called "improvements"! But the good news is that the data is still there. Click on Search and then select the database you want to search. That's where you'll find the link to Church Records you seek. I'd qualify your comment about favourite site. I'd say "ONLY" site for Kerry records. But when you look closely it only has records from 1820 and does not cover all parishes. I used it yesterday, but it doesn't seem to be loading at the moment. Perhaps they are doing maintenance. Peter
Peter, Barbara. I don't know for sure, of course, but I believe the site does include all surviving RC diocese of Kerry records, up to about the very early 1900s. Some parishes were started later in the 19th century, others have had records lost, damaged, or even some, as I understand, are virtually unreadable. There were a few parishes where records began as early as the 1780s, but few outside of the larger towns such as Killarney. Most of Kerry was remote, mountainous and very poor. Has anyone been able to access those church records yet? I haven't. I was wondering if they were planning on charging for them in the future?? I needed that link working for a class I'm teaching on Irish Internet Research this coming week......Thanks to those of you who have responded with your comments on this...Peter, Paul, and others. I learn from all of you!
