I have just returned from a short trip to the Dingle area and was able to visit the cemetery at Ventry. It has obviously been in use for a long time and has both unmarked stones as well as lovely and recently inscribed granite markers. It is not well maintained and has some lower areas that are almost inaccessible. Does anyone know if there has been a census of the cemetery? I found alot of my surnames but was unable to read or uncover many older stones. Had I had several days, I would have attempted to list the names and dates to share with you all. I am searching for birth, marriage and death records for Mary Flaherty Nolan, born about 1835. She married Maurice Nolan, probably 1857-1859, though I haven't any marriage record. The first of the 10 children, Charles, was born about 1858 or 1859. When I visited Ireland in 1982 I found baptismal records at St.Brendan's church in Ardfert, outside of Tralee (Kilmoyly) for the other 9 of the 10 children (born between 1860-1877). Maurice Nolan died 14 November, 1877. The death certificate doesn't show his mother's maiden name, place or date of birth, etc. His birth is listed only as 1823. I don't know where to search next. In the 1901 census Mary is living on the farm in Kilmoyly/Ardfert and her age is listed as 66. She lived with her oldest son, Charles Nolan, and his family who worked (not sure if they owned or rented) the farm. I never saw the 1911 census record, but assume Mary might have died somewhere between 1901-1911. I would hope her death certificate might give me her date and place of birth and her mother's maiden name.
