I was recently told by a cousin in Donegal that Ireland has a Centenarian Bounty. It is an award made by the President of Ireland to people living in Ireland who have reached the age of 100 years. The eligibility criteria for the Centenarian Bounty extend to include centenarians who are Irish citizens born in the Island of Ireland and are resident outside the State. My cousins in Killorglin, Co Kerry, have confirmed this. This makes my mother eligible. She will be 106 on her next birthday. The amount of the bounty is 2,540 Euros or 3,420 American Dollars as of this mornings exchange rate.
