    1. Re: [IRL-KERRY] Irish in New Brunswick....
    2. >From what I have read on immigration to Canada, the majority of settlers came to Nova Scotia and then migrated inland to New Brunswick. >From my visit there, the northern part of New Brunswick is mainly French settlers that came there during the 1770's. after being driven out of Nova Scotia by the English. The early settlers that came in from the St. Lawrence River settled in the Montreal area. That probably does not answer your question, but is about all I know about New Brunswick. Let's hope someone else is more knowledgable. 3. My Irish Dohertys seemed to have entered through St. John. They went from there to Boston, Mass., back to NB, Fredericton, back to St. John, and from there returned to Boston, where they stayed. This journey is based on the birth years and places of the five known children. John Doherty m. Bridget Doherty (seemingly married in Ireland) Roseanna b. 1834 in St. John Ellen A. (Nellie) b. 1838 in Roxbury, Mass. Patrick b. 1840 in Fredericton. Margaret b. 1842 St. John John b. 1845 Boston. There seem to have been some relatives in the Fredericton area, as Patrick's baptism sponsors were Daniel Doherty and Catherine Bradley. Margaret's sponsors were Bernard and Catherine "McCalm" (as spelled in the church record) The NB Church Archives could find no records for Roseanna, but all her records indicate she was born in St. John. I wonder if any others have had this sort of back and forth in their families. Ann
