Hello all and thank you in advance. I've sent for marriage certificates for both Galway and Kerry, hoping to verify some names and ages. Often I get back that the bridal pair were "full age," and no numbers were given. Any background on this? Is there a minimum, or a legal age, or maybe they didn't want to give their real ages? Is this a common designation for couples 'of a certain age?' Also, if the bride is listed as 'spinster,' does this always mean a first marriage for her? What about widows? I've two marriage certs that list similar names and one couple I am sure consisted of a widow and widower, even though it says 'bachelor' and 'spinster."
