Letter of permission is only needed for 'public access' of microfilms of catholic church record in national library,dublin. Think this can be done on day also as library can fax bishops office directly. These microfilms are films of actual records up to 1880. Not sure what access parishes allow but as its controlled by priest or parish secretary there is no letter needed. Not sure what tralee library has but are probably transcriptions of selected parish records in o'keefe cosh mange vols. No permission needed to look at transcriptions.
