Hi KerryKate, My great-grandmother Bridget Day was one of 6 children: I don't have birthdates for the others, but her brothers were Thomas (Tom, who was killed on a rainy night while driving Lord Ventry's coach, when the coach had an accident), Patrick (born in 1859, 9 months after his parents' wedding; this information from the parish priest in Dingle to my great-aunt who was there. I don't have those dates, however), and her sisters were Mary, Katherine and Nora (Ellen) (born in 1866 according to the same priest). Her brother Tom was the grandfather of 2 second cousins still in Ireland, Patrick Daye and Anne Daye who is a nun at Castleisland (Sister Anne, I think). I don't know of other relatives, though it seems unlikely that they are the only ones. Bridget's father was Thomas Daye (Patrick told me it is actually Daye in Ireland, not Day as we have believed all these years), and his mother was born Joanna Cleary. later Day(e). That is all I have. Almost all of it comes from Bridget's daughter Ellen (my great-aunt) who was interested in the family and traveled to Dingle back in the 1970s and found out the above information from the parish priest. Her daughter passed it on to me. There's another bit of information I just remembered that the priest also told them. On the baptism record for the parish it said that her name was Bridget Costello Day(e), of which name none of us ever heard before. We have no idea why the name. It strikes me as odd. I'm looking forward to finding out more when we are there. I know nothing about any civil record. Where would I find that? Where would I find anything else besides with the St Mary's church in Dingle? And why did you ask those particular questions?
