Dear Listers, Another member of this list and I think that we may have a common ancestor. As such, we are considering DNA testing. In the past we have seen DNA discussed on the list but do not recall whether or not a particular lab was ever mentioned. Any help directing us to a reliable testing lab would be greatly appreciated. Also, an answer to this question would be helpful. We believe the connection is directly through his father's father, etc. while mine goes through my father, his mother, her father, and his mother being the one with the same surname as the other lister. In order to make the connection, do I need to have one of my brothers be tested? Thank you, Sandy
I am not an expert but I do believe that the brother will have to be tested. Males get Y-DNA from their fathers and mtDNA from their mothers. Females get only mtDNA from their mothers.
