Jan If you are looking for Julia Lawlor, you really need to know whereabouts in Ireland she was from - at least the parish and / or county that she lived in. And the 1818 - 30s are getting to be pretty early for Irish records of any kind, most of them began at or after 1820 - 1830 unless she was from the east or a city in which case the records do begin at an earlier date. Do you know the names of her elder children? One of whose names may be the names of her mother or father. In Irish families, ( although NOT invariably ) the name of the first daughter and second son are often the wife's parents' Christian names. My John Lawlor turned up, most unexpectedly, as the witness to some deaths in my g grandparents family in the 1870s, and was listed as uncle. They came from the Glen Flesk / Killarney / Aghadoe area. The Lawlor name does not appear on my g grandfather's side, so he must have been related to my g grandmother, Margaret Sheehan, who, according to my grandfather, spoke endlessly of Aghadoe. When I looked at the Griffiths' lists and at other records, there were Sheehans and Lawlors in Aghadoe, but I have't yet got further into it - something for the future. Hi Jan and Mary, I too have Lawlor relatives that came from Co. Kerry. Thomas Lawlor married Mary Sheahan, children were Mary (1831-1886), John, Tadgh (1828-), Thomas (the Rev. Thomas Lawlor)(1842-1916), William, Bridget (1823-), Margaret, Daniel. I believe Mary and her parents were from the Lixnaw, Irrebeg or Listowel area. Mary came back to Ireland from Lowell, MA in 1861 and her husband, Patrick Donohue, past away in Ireland. Mary remarried the following year to Thomas Ryle and they moved between Irrebeg and Tralee. I have a distant cousin in Co. Cork who recently found me and he's been kind enough to fill in a lot of my information. Please let me know if this fits in with any of your Lawlors or their siblings.
