Mike I am very much aware of those problems. My mother was a Census taker back in the 40's and my Great Aunt was a census taker in 1900. What I am referring to is the case where the hand writing was not very clear and any American would know some of the names to where he would pick something close to the original, but because of the outsourcing they seem to come up with a name that would resemble something more like an East Indian. When you check the index and can't find the name, but when you go to the actual written Census, there it is, big as life, with lousy penmanship. Sometimes, soundex does not help in these cases.
