    3. Interesting enough, Trish, as I look at the URL of that website, bbs.mayo-ireland, out of the depths of my ossified cranium, I seem to recall that that "address" was one of the original sites used in the prehistoric times that actually pre-date the internet, say, before 1994 or so. A "bbs" is "bulletin board system." Before the internet, and its immediate predecessor, "Gopher", developed at the University of Minnesota, whose team mascot is the Gopher, all we had were the BBS's. These were free (with a few exceptions) communications forums run by individual computer owners where you were just able to communicate with fellow subscribers (and maybe viewers) of a particular BBS. Much like how the Kerry List is today. I seem to recall in those days that the "Mayo site" was one of the best of the bbs's. It still lives! Good for them. The internet's onset killed virtually all of them within months. Although I suppose there might be small groups still hanging on. Snow mostly gone, but still a bit on the chilly side. -----Original Message----- From: irl-kerry-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-kerry-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Trish Jensen Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2008 11:56 PM To: irl-kerry@rootsweb.com Subject: [IRL-KERRY] new Irish site Hi, I have just discovered a new [or new to me] Irish Web site. You can add your family search there. Looks good.
