Michael, I don't know if anyone has yet offered an opinion - I find (in Woulfe) that Dermot is an old Irish name but it has usually been given the baptismal name of Jeremiah and in more recent years Gerald or Jerome. Bart is usually a short form of Bartholomew - Batt is another short form. I don't know what the original Irish for this was. Another Kerry original is Fionin - anglicized as Florence (male name!)
