This most likely has been posted before, but I just came across it at the Kerry Library online: Look for Kerry soldiers at http://www.kerrylibrary.ie/, under Family History. ~Patsy
Good morning. A while back someone had given a link and directions on how to search for and request birth certificates (RC-1876ish) from Newtownsandes. I had thought I saved this link but cannot find it anywhere. If anyone can offer help it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Kate

Hi Listers, Have had trouble the last few days getting through to the list. Thanks Ray for posting my incomplete message. Don't know what happened to the rest of it, so I reposting it. Thanks John and Des for the help. I did find what I think is my ggrandparents marriage on th Irish genealogy site. Catherine an John Connor were married on Feb 1, 1861 with Rev. Bric as officating priest and Dominic Moran and James Wren as witnesses in St. Michael's in Ballylongford. Their daughter, Mary Josephine was also baptized there in Nov 1865. Thanks John for that record. This is going to be a real long shot, but does anyone on the list in Ireland recognize the name Ollie Fitzgerald Perry? She is my aunt born in Tennessee in 1903 of Mary O'Connor (b. Ballylongford, Ireland) and Josiah Fitzgerald ( born Tennessee). She lived in Chicago and died in Nashville, Tennessee in 1983. She wrote to cousins in Kerry for many years, but I never knew their names and where they lived. Some names associated with my O'Connor family in Ballylongford according to my Dad are: Hanrahan, Enright, Peon, Macevoy, Wren or Ryan,Houlihan, and John and Mike Gallagher. Have not been able to find a connection to date, but still looking. The only cousins I know of for sure was Hanora O'connor who married Joseph Peon in Limerick City and immigrated to Tennessee the same year. They had one daughter that I know of, Nora. Hoping someone on the list sees a connection. Shirley in MN

I've come across these 3 versions of this townland - Raenagnane/Raenagnaun/Reaghnaguirre - in the church records of Castleisland Parish, while searching for CAHILL ancestors in the 1840s. Other townlands associated with these Cahills and their relatives (including O'Briens in the next generation) are Knockrower (Knockrour) / Grouse Hall and nearby Knockreagh. But I can't find anything for Raenagnane or its variants on any townland map or list I've consulted. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas, to help me rule in/out these Cahills as possibly related to the Knockrower/Knockreagh bunch? Thanks, Bridget
It mightn't be much help but I do have to wonder if the surname 'Thomas' could be variant of the surname 'Dumas'. Des, Just a long shot, but does your Dad have any O'Connors (Connor) in his family tree? Long ago, my Dad said he had Hanrahan cousins in the Ballylongford, Tarbert area. Unfortunately, that was before I got interested in genealogy and didn't ask him for any mre information. His mother was Mary Connor b. circa 1865-69 and the only daughter of John and Kate Connor of Ballylongford. Kate's married name was also Connor. Kate and John immigrated in 1872 to Nashville, TN. Haven' been able to find much on them in Kerry. Hello I am researching the following families in Kenmare Kerry and would like to hear from anyone doing same. Nathaniel IRVINE - father William IRVINE- forrester employed at the Lansdowne Estate- mother Elizabeth INGRAM Charlotte IRVINE - illegitimate daughter of Nathaniel William Stewart KING - father Thomas KING - army pensioner, mother Francis STEWART William and Charlotte were married in 1848 Kenmare and immigrated to Australia in 1862 with their six children. bye Helen
Hello Finbar and Reg, It certainly looks like it could be the old one at Killowen built 1811-14 and replaced 1858 by St, Patrick's in Kenmare. At least I have a picture of St Patricks as the last baptism was in 1859 - Rector John Edmond Trench. Looks like the rest were all conducted by J G Day so were in the old parish church now in ruins. Many thanks for your assistance. bye Helen
You can't take the Kerry out of the Kerryman, so, although master musician, Billy Clifford, has been living in Tipp for the last 40 years, his music is still that of Kerry. He has out a new cd called "Echoes of Sliabh Luachra", which is a collection of slides, polkas, jigs, reels, hownpipes and airs done in his native Sliabh Luachra style. You can obtain the cd by writing to Billie himself at 13 Fr. Matthew Street, Tipperary Town, Co. Tipperary, Ireland or calling 087-2114221. The cd is 15 Euro, including shipping. Convert that to your own currency and add a little bit so he doesn't get hurt on the exchange and you can mail your own check to him and he will convert it here. Janet PS, I have NO interest in the promotion or sale of this cd other than enjoying good music.
Hello, I am hoping that someone with Kenmare local knowledge could help me regarding the church where the following couple were married . Marriage 29th April, 1848 Kenmare Church, Parish of Kenmare, Diocese of Ardfert. Walter Stewart KING, bachelor, full age, police sub constable, father Thomas King, Army Pensioner. married; Charlotte IRVINE, 20yrs, spinster, no profession, father Nathaniel IRVINE, Gentleman. Married in the Church of Kenmare, according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the United Church of England & Ireland by licence by me, John G Day Rector of Kenmare. I am trying to locate a picture of this church ( if it still exists), however up to date I am not sure if the images I am finding online are correct. Slaters 1846 describes the church as being a modern structure with a steeple located about 1/2 mile east of the town. Many thanks for any assistance Helen
