    3. Michael,   I don't know if anyone has yet offered an opinion - I find (in Woulfe) that Dermot is an old Irish name but it has usually been given the baptismal name of Jeremiah and in more recent years Gerald or Jerome. Bart is usually a short form of Bartholomew - Batt is another short form. I don't know what the original Irish for this was.    Another Kerry original is Fionin - anglicized as Florence (male name!)    Paul    --- On Thu, 2/10/11, Michael Danahy <[email protected]> wrote: From: Michael Danahy <[email protected]> Subject: [IRL-KERRY] Given names Bart, Dermot, Jeremiah To: "Kerry List" <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, February 10, 2011, 6:11 PM Hello Kerry People, i know we have discussed this before but I ask your patience and  indulgence because i am on a slow learning curve.  Many first names  are oftenused interchangeably for the same person..  What can you  tell me about Jeremiah, Bart, Dermot?  TIA Michael DANAHY http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/a/n/Michael-C-Danahy/index.html RESEARCHING IN MA (Hopkinton), IRE, ENG          ALDRICH http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~aldrichnaa/     (one  m SMITH, earlier ones m CASAVANT, COMEE, http://www.familyorigins.com/users/e/v/a/Jeanne-C-Evans     LOVELL, PRAY, PRENTICE, RAWSON, SEALD, THAYER); http://members.xoom.com/jaldrich/Lines/Michael.htm Aldrich Family biographies, go to http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssociation/AldrichBios or go to http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~aldrich/          CASAVANT (who m MORAN);          CURRAN (who m DANAHY)          DANAHY (b. in Hopkinton and who m LENAN, siblings m. 1. [IRL-KERRY] McDonnell, Quirk, Listowel
    2. Anne Livak
    3. Hello Kerry Researchers: My great grandparents were Michael McDonnell and Mary Quirk. They would have been born about 1830. They lived in Listowel but I do not know where they were born nor when Michael died. He was not in the 1901 census and was long dead at the time of Mary's death in 1913. Their son Michael was a cattle dealer and butcher in Listowel, born in 1857 and died in 1914 in Bedford. His son Michael (known as Anthony) was my father, born and raised in Bedford, Listowel. I cannot find my great grandparents in the Kerry Church Records, at least not in Listowel or any mention of their marriage. They probably married about 1855 and also had a daughter called Anne. Siblings of Mary Quirk were: Catherine, James, Michael and Jeremiah. If anyone has a connection or information on this family, I would be most appreciative. Thanks much, Anne

    1. Re: [IRL-KERRY] Tithe Applotments
    2. Marge, I have a copy of "kilcummin, glimpses of the past". It has the Tithe for Kilcummin only, but I believe LDS also has these records on microfilm. If you need anything from Kilcummin, let me know and I will look in my book for you. 3. If he was ordained for the Kerry diocese he probably would have attended St Brendans Seminary Killarney - I don't know what University the students attended from there but wonder if it was University College Cork or Maynooth? - if so either may still have the thesis available. Might be worth while to contact St Brendans to check this out.
