Hello Everyone, I cannot thank the people on this List enough for the information they sent regarding my request of June 11th. I learned so much information about the house and area where my late husband grew up. My paternal grandfather originated from Limerick and always told me Irish people were wonderful and here you are again, coming to my aid. Thank you all again. patricia davies in Pennsylvania, USA.

I'm searching for a house in the area of Caragh Lake in County Kerry where my late husband lived with a relative when he was a small boy. What I'd really like is a photograph of the house. I believe it was called either Drenta or Drenda. I have a painting of Caragh Lake done in the late 1800s which was once owned by the owner of the house and her name was Harriett Campbell Banner Mills. I have a couple of letters she wrote given to me by my mother-in-law, but the only address at the top of the letters is "Caragh." She lived at the house with her husband James Mills, who was a cotton broker from Liverpool and he died around 1912. It must have been quite a large house because Mrs. Mills had three gardeners and I believe staff also in the house. I think she died in the late 1930s or early 1940s. I think she's buried at a place called Glenbeigh, it's hard to read the writing on a card I have. Any help would be very much appreciated. patricia davies in Pennsylvania, USA.

Hi List, In trying to understand some information on my great grandfather's death record from the civil registration office, I find I know very little. The county is Kerry and it states the death was registered in what looks like the district of Nathtag. Searching for Nathtag gave me no results. Is there a website that I can be referred to that will give me a better understanding of what's what? Kind Regards, Peg Gingras
Thanks to Jeremy Greaney, we have started a page for Memorial or Funeral cards for Kerry. If anyone has any to share, but all means please do. These often get tossed out eventually, and we would like to preserve them. http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/kerry/memorials.htm Thanks! In an effort to clarify the TWISS FAMILY history..............My 7th great grandfather was Richard Twiss of Fitz, Shropshire born 1609. His first marriage was to SARA X and one son was born , namely Robert jr. After death of first wife in 1640 he married Jane X, unknown Parish Shropshire. They married 1642 in Shrop. had 3 children, namely Richard jr c.1643. MARIE(MARY), c.1645 and George c1650......... Richard Twiss was the son of a farmer. After 1650 he and his family went to Kerry as Land Agent for Lord Cherbury, to manage Castleisland estates. His daughter MARIE or MARY was born 1645 in Fitz, Shropshire and married my 6th gt gfr George Radley esq. Knockraur, Cork circa 1660/65 . (Marie or Mary is not to be confused with Mary Twiss who married John Tournier of Baschurch Shropshire. She was born 1641 and this particular Mary’s parents were Francis and Anne Twiss.) KING in his history of Kerry states that Richard Twiss of Birdhill had an only daughter MARY (MARIE). We have researched Richard Twiss and have proven sources for the above.ie. Wills, Parish registers etc. If anyone has verified information to the contrary, I would be happy to hear it. Richard Twiss was only married twice , once to Sara X and once to Jane X. Herbert Correspondence and Fitz Parish registers are proven source for this.In Burkes it says he,Richard Twiss, married a member of Herbert family. Unlikely as a member of 17th century aristocracy would not marry a landless penniless farmers son, as he was at that time. No evidence for that person exists nor evidence for marriage. FRANK TWISS was most likely his(Richard Twiss’) grandson rather than his son. his father being Robert jr.born 1636 . Elizabeth Radley b.circa 1730 married Richard son of Martin son of Frank in 1756. Eliz was granddaughter of my 5th gt gfr Francis Radley esq, Knockraur and Richard was grandson of Frank Twiss.Francis Radley and Frank Twiss were first cousins. If you work back from wedding date of 1756, you will find that Frank Twiss was born, not in 1631, but around 1660/65. Lorraine Egan www.radleysofcork.bigpondhosting.com

Dear Shanna: I googled the phrase "Twiss family genealogy" and got 10 pages! I also have Twiss in my family tree, although it's not a main branch. Sarah Twiss, daughter of John Twiss of Ballycuslane, Co. Kerry, married John Poff of Cahermore, Flemby, Co. Kerry. John Poff was born about 1867. My main family lines in Kerry are Boyle and Blennerhassett. Twiss's are also mentioned in the Keane Letter on the County Kerry Genealogy website. If you can find a library collection of Albert Eugene Casey's "O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Clieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater in Ireland", you can find all the Twiss family you want. In 16 enormous volumes, Casey paid to have every record in every parish recorded. Try Irish Genealogy "http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/". I found over 400 Twiss records. Hello, I was wondering, pls., if SKS might be able to help me with a couple of questions one on prof. genealogists, on how they charge their clients, or, when someone else does some research for someone else, once or twice, and the second on Cty., Kerry, itself. I know of someone who is dong some research for people. There are times when a lot of her searches are "dead ends" and she was wondering, whether, or, not she should charge for these "dead ends". She pays for her own travelling expenses, etc. Should she pay for these "dead ends", or not? Second, I have been told that the Kerry Library does not have anything on my TWISS surname. Now, I was wondering, please, would any of the other libraries, in within Kerry, have any info. and would they send it over to the Kerry Library? Also, how much do they charge, does anyone know, in Ireland? Or, would their fees be any different than anywhere else? Thank you very much. Shannah TWISS from Canada overpond06@gmail.com

Dear Marge, thanks for sharing that video of Rod singing "I'm my own grandpa". I remember the song well from long ago and always thought it was so funny. Thanks.
