I would investigate the "k" sound actually being a "g", as in Beag or Beg. It would have been nice to find a Beger or Beager or Beagher ..........but no such luck. Lots of Beagh townlands, a Beagha and various other endings. But I'm on dangerous ground here, as I don't know just how the "eagh" is pronounced in this word. If it's just a form of Beg, then it's not so bad. But it's been a long day, and I'm probably going to make some really stupid assumptions if I keep going. So I think I'd better leave it with the suggestion about the "k" sound. If I have any better suggestions while sleeping on it tonight, I'll send an update <gr>. 3. Pete, In the parish of Beagh in south Galway the parish name is pronounced a bit like "bay-hay", with a very soft "h" which is almost breathed rather than huffed, i.e. it is just hinted at.
