I am wondering if you have ever found anything in the Galway papers regarding an immigration scheme to New Zealand in 1862. My G-g grandmother Catherine Costello from Galway, arrived on the ship "Pladda" in Port Chalmers, Otago, NZ under a scheme by the Otago Provincial Council to bring 1200 single young women from Britain as there was a shortage of domestic servants at the time. Catherine was not the only young woman from Galwayon board, so I am wondering if there had ever been any articles in the Galway papers from about July to November 1862 ? Thanks for any help.
