    3. According to Gerard Madden's book 'For God or King', the history of Mountshannon begins on 1738 when Alexander Woods leased the land. His grandson, Sergeant Ringrose Woods, born 1784. In 1839, Ringrose Woods was living in March Township, Carleton County (now Ottawa), Ontario, Canada. My Young ancestors came from Mountshannon to the same place. I know of the Long family coming from Mountshannon to nearby Nepean Township. I would like to know of other Mounshannon families who came to Eastern Ontario. My great-grandfather, Francis Wood, was born there about 1814 and emigrated to Quebec, Canada around 1832. He had at least one older brother, and his father reportedly owned or rented land in Galway. I've been unable to locate any Wood names in Galway and any help would be deeply appreciated.
