Can anyone tell me what records are available in Galway city? And where? I'm interested particularly on death records 1870 to 1910 or so.... and birth, marriage records from 1864 on. Are the sacremental records for RC diocese of Dysart covering East Galway/Roscommon available in the local church in Galway/Roscommon? Thanks....so very much for any and all replies. Janice Boston

Galway city library - or county library does not list the parish records or tithes or anything else - but - the parish records are available though the National library in Dublin - the tithe applotment books, Griffiths evaluation are available through the National Archilves in Dublin All three are available through your local Family history centre - you are in Boston Death records from 1864 - they're also available to you through your family history research centre in Boston - or, in Dublin - or, at the Registrar's Office in Galway, if they offer a research facility. Whether or not the local priest allows access - that absolutely depends on how he's been treated in the past, how many require access etc. Many P.P.'s and curates al over the country - they're offering specific times for family history research to parishoners and others these days.
