Are you a new subscriber? I still can't log-in. System doesn't recognise my username. If you are new, then maybe it's OK with new data, but the old has been corrupted/wiped during the downtime. As to the value- I think that depends on what you are looking for. It's not going to give you Birth, marriage and death records. Or parish records. (At least not yet) So don't expect that sort of specific info (except in certain circumstances) It does have Griffiths. If you know where your family came from, one copy of the correct page, and then you might never need it again. But many people reseaching several different Irish lines ,and who don't know exactly where their families came from, will use it a lot more. And if you just have "Ireland" as a place of origin, then you will need to use it extensively. It has trade directories, lists of clergy, police etc that you might find useful in certain situations. I find the placenemes database (similar to seanruad) useful and the surname database really helpful,as a filter to Griffiths when it comes to spelling. (Griffiths is very exact on spelling- unlike the IGI,which puts similar spellings all together,Griffiths will not put Burke with Bourke, for example,so you often need to put in several variations to make sure you have everyone, and given the spelling variables... With otherdays,if you opt for "similar names" or whatever the option is,you get a very confusing collection of names. You might ,for example, get Burke and Butler, but still not Bourke!) I have never been successful downloading maps- but that's probably me being stupid. I do a lot of research for other people,so I would use it dozens of times a day. If you are unsure, sign up for the 72 hour option. It does take a while to get used to it,so don't expect to get the hang of it straightaway. Cathy
