You say your grandparents moved to the UK from the Tuam area. Was this as individuals or as a couple? Did they marry in Ireland or UK? Do you know her maiden name? Presumably this marriage was RC? Were any of their children born in Ireland? There were only 30 or so Allen families in Galway in the mid 1800s,and only a handful of those in the general Tuam area,so they shouldn't be too difficult to trace.
