    1. surname NOONAN
    2. John Egan
    3. Here's another Noonan for you collection: Frederick Joseph Noonan, born Chicago April 4, 1893, navigator of Amelia Earhart's plane which vanished in the 1930s. He was the son of Joseph T Noonan who married Catherine Helena Alice Egan, b 23 January, 1893, in Plaistow, West Ham, London, England. By 1910, and possibly earlier, Fred had established himself as a sailor. Over the next twenty years, he steadily built his knowledge, experience and credentials until, by 1930, he was Captain Fred Noonan, sailing out of New Orleans for the Mississippi Shipping Company and holder of a Master's license for steamships of any gross tonnage for any ocean. Fred was an expert navigator and that ultimately took him from the sea and into the air for Pan American Airways in about 1930. His mopther's parents were Richard James Egan (perhaps born in Mayo) and Elizabeth (nee Green) who most probably married in Kensington, London, in 1861. I would like to know more about Richard's forbears John Egan, London
