Hello Judy, Since I am the original lister who asked for the suggestions, I felt I should respond. First, I am VERY sorry you felt offended by this other lister. I went back and re-read his post, and I wanted to indicate to you that yes you are right there are many negatives in the post. Again, I am very very sorry for that. As bad as you may be feeling, I beg you not to let this one post deter you from posting suggestions again. I am writing a book on the life of someone who is not in my bloodline and I sincerely appreciate your lovely and valuable suggestions for my research. I have spent many many many hours online and off conducting research and your suggestions did not go unheard. I joined this list to obtain research information, and thanks to you (and others!) I obtained a good number of sites. I am sure other listmembers are thankful to you as well. Again, please do not let just one negative post keep you from giving to others what they need. And again, I am very sorry he hurt you. I do hope he rectifies it in private. That would be the right thing to do. Take a deep breath, know how highly I regard your post and keep your chin up. I am glad you are here. Very Sincerely, Thankful Listmember Teri Milch ----- Original Message ----- From: Ken & Judy To: IRL-GALWAY-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, January 24, 2005 3:55 PM Subject: [GALWAY] Sources Ouch! That hurt! A Lister asked for suggestions for sites for researching. I submitted some. Another lister took it upon himself to criticize my suggestions, one by one. This second lister as good as told everyone not to bother with my suggestions. I greatfully welcome all ideas and suggestions. Anyone have anything to add to my list? Feel free to answer me directly, in the event you wish to avoid criticism from others on the list. I understand. Currently I am building family trees for the book. I would like to ask what additional sources could I use to find family members AND their contact information? I have used: a.. Burke's Landed Gentry b.. Some census records, but I am open to more sources c.. Books d.. RootsWeb.com, FamilyTree.com, Genealogy.com (any other genealogical databases???) e.. Parish Records f.. Some museum and library archives, but I am open to more sources Any additional sources is greatly appreciated. I am researching both the UK and the USA. Please note that not all family members have the surname Ismay. There are many female decents who married. Very Sincerely, Teri L.
