Has anyone had luck contacting parish priests for church and/or old school records for a parish? I will be in Rosmuc next month and wish to contact parish priest Patrick Considine (Padraig Canónach Mac Consaidín) to view any old records the parish may have. I've always read that it can be problematic - the priests don't have time or they refuse to release records due to privacy laws or something like that. If anyone can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it! Nancy, I can only speak to the Church of Ireland. The main records centre is in Dublin. Although they are polite they are "somewhat burocratic".. As to the individual priests at local churches they are all as good as they individual. I have only had one out of five not respond. The rest have gone way out of their way to be helpful. Thats a pretty good track record.
