I am looking for information on John McHugo and Winifred Ward. They were both born in the mid to late 1820's, came to the USA in the mid to late 1840s. I did find this post in the Boston Pilot: Search for Missing Friends: Irish Immigrant Advertisements placed in The Boston Pilot 1831-1920 30 August 1851 EDWARD MCHUGO & PATRICK WARD, from parish Duras, co. Galway, who sailed in the ship Franklin, 25th June last & landed in Boston. Any information respecting him will be thankfully received by JOHN MCHUGO, Northfield, Vermont. Volume II: 1851 - 1853 I have census records that John and Winifred had three children in Northfield, and then several more in Colchester Vermont. My interest is in their roots in Galway. Can anyone help? Point my in the right direction? Tom
Tom, I know this is like a needle in a haystack but I am looking for a Ward who lived in Galway. MIght your Winifred have a sister Mary? My Mary Ward married a Timothy Eagan and had at least 2 children that I know of John b. Jan 1862 and Mary Amanda b. 15 Aug 1876. Both John and Mary came to USA and settled in Boston area. I would believe they had other siblings, but cannot confirm it yet.
