The death notice is puzzling. According to the Clancarty chart published in the 1970 edition of Burke's Peerage and Baronetage, Nicholas Power TRENCH was a younger brother (not a son) of William Power Keating TRENCH, 1st Earl of Clancarty who lived 1741-1805. Their parents were Richard TRENCH (1710-1768) and Frances POWER. The Rev. Power le Poer TRENCH, Archbishop of Tuam, is named as the 2nd son of the 1st Earl (above) so if Burke's version of the family is correct Nicholas was indeed his uncle. Had Nicholas been a son of the 1st Earl, then he and the Archbishop would have been brothers.
