I am looking for information on a Burke family presumed to be from Galway. Nancy Burke mar a John O'Connor abt 1825. Their children were born in Galway. Nancy had an unknown brother Burke who had children named Julia Burke, b Oct 1842, Thomas, Richard, b abt 1850 and Patrick Burke. Thomas was in the US prior to 1882; Richard was in Weir City, KS in 1885, worked at a Smolten; Richard's children were William, John, Andrew and James, b in the 1870's in MO & KS; Patrick was in MO in 1885; Julia mar. Matthew Clark and they lived in Cairo, IL. Julia states she immigrated in 1864. Julia's children, surname Clark were Thomas, William, George, Matt and Ella. First child Thomas Clark b LA, the rest in IL. Any information on where these Burkes were from in Galway would be a big help on my brick wall with John O'Connor and his ancestors. Have searched Griffiths for Burkes and OConnors in same townlands and have about 12 possibilities, but even that isn't proof positive. <>Helen O'Connor hoconn@comcast.net
