    1. [IRL-GALWAY] Carroll / Grady
    2. Anne Leech
    3.  John CARROLL and his wife Bridget nee GRADY/GREADY arrived at Port Adelaide South Australia as free settlers aboard the "Australian" on 22nd Jan !856. (They had left Plymouth on Oct 14 1855) John was 25 (b 1830) and Bridget 21 (b 1834) The couple had no children, were Roman Catholic and John CARROLL was listed as Labourer born in Co.Clare. For a long while I assumed Bridget was from there too but recently Royal Adelaide Hospital records indicate she was from Galway. The fact that all their children were born here after arrival makes me assume they were perhaps married just before they left for Australia. I also therefore now think they may be listed in a Galway marriages record somewhere as usually the marriage took place in the bride's township. The names of their children were as follows in case there is a family pattern. Mary Ann, William James, Henry, John Edward, Honora, Coleman, Catherine, Thomas Domenick Joseph, and Michael Patrick. I have tried the Griffith's Valuation records and cannot arrive at any positive results for either person. I would be most thankful of any information on where I might find this marriage record. If anyone has information on this family I am happy to exchange details. Much Thanks Anne Adelaide South Australia
