Michael's civil death registration (the volume and page can be found in the familysearch index) would give his age, marital status, occupation, cause and place of death, and name and residence of informant (usually a relative). Death notices not common, but it doesn't hurt to ask. There is an 1874 marriage registration, too. If that's your Michael, will give his father's name. Tuam RC records have been filmed by the LDS to 1790. They would give you lots more information, though harder to read. Diane
