I have added tithe applotment indexes for the following civil parishes to the County Galway section of my website: Killinny Civil Parish Killogilleen Civil Parish Don't forget to read my transcription notes to see what problems I encountered. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
I have been searching for years for baptisms for Oranmore..Galway ireland.. The catholic priest checked his registers several years ago for me without success. He said many were not written down in the 1840's. You can go to the Irish Times site to see what records exist for various parishes (http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/), and you can search for individual records on the Irish Family History Foundation site (http://www.rootsireland.ie/). Diane

I'm trying to learn the name of my mother's father's father's mother, who married Stephen Kerrigan and had at least two children, Fergus around 1830 and Michael about 1835. Stephen raised his family in north Clare, but in the 1901 census Michael said he was born in Galway, I suspect just a few miles away, as Fergus and Michael married girls from Kilmacduagh and Kilbeacanty parishes, and Griffith's shows Kerrigans in Kilbeacanty and Beagh. I also suspect that Stephen and his wife had more than two children, and that some of the others emigrated. Would love to hear from anyone with Kerrigan ancestors who came from that area, especially if there are Stephens (or Ferguses or Michaels) in the line. Diane
Does anyone have the book by Josephine Masterson IRELAND: 1841/1851 Census Abstracts (Republic of Ireland and No Ireland) and could do a look up for the following: Thomas & Catherine Hyland Son: John born 1833 AGE:8 (1841) AGE:18 (1851) married age:20 District of Stepney Co of Middlesex England. Unknown location in Ireland where John may have been born. perhaps these Census Abstracts could give me an area where to look. Thanks
My apologies - a lister named Roisin wrote and told me where to purchase certificates for 4 euros + search fees. However I seem to have lost the email. Can you please post again. Sharon
Thank you Sheila There are a few to choose from unfortunately. Its something to compare notes with should I find something else though. Hi all Everyone has been so helpful on the list I thought I would bounce a couple of more thoughts off you. George Phair is given as a gardener on any certificates I have found. One would assume he worked for someone on an estate - does anyone know what estate that would be in Tuam in the 1860's. Both his sons worked on the railway, George William Phair was a stoker and his brother Charles was a clerk. Does anyone know if there are records for the railways 1860 - 1900? Sharon
You can get photocopies of Irish civil registration certificates through the GRO (www.groireland.ie), 4 euros if you provide the volume and page number (from the familysearch.org record search), 6 euros if you don't. Diane
Sharon, Try the landedestates.ie database. There are several estates listed for the Tuam area if I remember correctly. It might give you a place to start Sheila
Posting this has stripped away the chart making it difficult to read. If you have an interest in any name and want a clean copy let me know and I will email it to you direct. Thanks Diane for the info, I appreciate it so much. I will look and see if I can find an email address for the Center and find out about fees. The budget is very tight as it is for many right now.
