The info is "A Guide to Irish Churches and Graveyards", by Brian Mitchell. The ISBN (apparently, hard-cover only) is 0-8063-1266-1 and the publisher is Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., in Baltimore, MD. The book was originally published in 1990, and my copy is the third printing in 2001. It's not cheap - I think it was about $30 - but it's very useful for my purposes. If you Google the publisher, you can get the exact address, website, phone number, etc. Or, go to Amazon..... I think I ordered it by phone from Baltimore. 3. There are two Kivara's in Galway. One in Connemara and spelled with two "r's" Kinvarra and the other near Kilcolgan and Oranmore. The Connemara one is pronounced "Kin WARRA" rather than a "v" sound. ----- Original Message ----- From: <CathOneill@aol.com> To: <IRL-GALWAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 17, 2005 2:51 PM Subject: Re: [GALWAY] Advice needed, please! > Barbara > The LDS film no. 0979692 is for the parish records of 9 Galway RC > parishes. > They include Kinvarr(1831-53) which is the one I presume they are > referring > to. > > To check out the other parishes on the film: > go to _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) > Click on LIBRARY (options are HOME-SEARCH-SHARE-LIBRARY) > Click on Family history library catalogue (underneath LIBRARY) > Click on Film/Fiche search > Enter 0979692 > > > Cathy > > > ==== IRL-GALWAY Mailing List ==== > To unsub or change your Irl-Galway mailing mode: > http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/IRL/IRL-GALWAY.html > Jane Lyons' From Ireland County Galway site: > http://www.from-ireland.net/contents/galwayconts.htm > > ============================== > New! They may have had more. My Great Grandfather published the history 1945-1946 thereabouts. This is in response to a request but my reply bounced back so I am sending through the group. Mary Jo

    2. Phyllis at PhyllisM@pobox.com writes: << Does any have any Birmingham info from Dunmore Where would somebody be buried if they were married and died in Dunmore? >> Phyllis, This will be a bit confused, because I have had conflicting signals "on the ground" in Dunmore, relative to the map of the area (Disc. 39). There is an old graveyard on the east side of the N 83 just as you enter the town from the north. The map would identify this as the site of the old friary. But 'tain't so. I don't know what graveyard this would be, as it doesn't seem to be connected with a church....... and Mitchell's book on Irish Churches and Graveyards identifies the only cemetery in Dunmore town as one being associated with the RC church there (cleverly identified on the Dunmore RC parish website as "Dunmore Church" <gr>). But I believe the RC church is farther to the SW part of the town. The friary remains (which I found on a subsequent trip) are in the southern part of the town. I don't recall an external burial ground, but I think there were some gravemarkers inside the (locked) friary shell. This building was the church of a small Augustinian friary founded in 1425 by Walter Mor (add a fada) de Bermingham, Baron Athenry, (d. 1428). Probably 'twould be a good place for Bermingham burials. 1. CLARKE - GAVIN - MANION - WADE - FOX
    2. I have been putting this off for years while working on another family line (KEEHAN/KEEGAN) but now I think I should begin work on my CLARKE line. Unlike my KEEHAN/KEEGAN line where I have to dig for every shred of info I can get, I have a ton of info on my CLARKE line but no records of verification. So now I would like to begin to verify the info I have and would appreciate tips on where and how. I also hope that maybe someone out there is also working on this CLARKE line and we can put our heads together. My great grandfather published the Clarke Family History in the 1940's. He travelled to Ireland and met many family members while there. While he has provided us with a ton of info, he didn't provide any sources for records. This is the task I have set for myself. Here is what I have: Malachy CLARKE b. before 1757 Galway m. about 1772 in Galway to Bridget GAVIN d. ? Children: John, Andrew, Jeremiah (Darby), Bridget and Sabina CLARKE. John CLARKE (son of Malachy & Bridget) b. before 1806 Galway m. about 1821 in Ireland (Galway?) to Mary MANION She is the daughter of William & Mary MANION - same names not related. d. ? Children: Mary, Patrick, Bridget, Julia, Sabina, Malachy, William, John and Catherine CLARKE. Patrick CLARKE (son of John & Mary) b. March 17, 1824 (of course), Greenville - near Killasolin, Galway emmigrated to USA: Feb. 27, 1850 (41 days at sea) m. Catherine WADE born Apr. 15, 1846 in Ballinahattina, Galway. She is the daughter of Hugh WADE and Catherine FOX. She emmigrated to USA: Feb. 1866. They were married in the States. My question is where do I go for what documents? I would also like to find where they are buried but at this point would be very happy to prove what information I already have. Please, could someone point me in the right direction? Thank you for any advice. Mary Jo
