    2. Kim, since Mary was born after 1863, you should be able to find her birth in the civil registry, which will lead you to her parish and the rest of the family. Diane

    3. Tom, I know this is like a needle in a haystack but I am looking for a Ward who lived in Galway. MIght your Winifred have a sister Mary? My Mary Ward married a Timothy Eagan and had at least 2 children that I know of John b. Jan 1862 and Mary Amanda b. 15 Aug 1876. Both John and Mary came to USA and settled in Boston area. I would believe they had other siblings, but cannot confirm it yet. 2. Go to familysearch.org, then go to the catalog for the family history library, and search for the areas you are interested in to see what is available on microfilm. You can also go to John Grenham's book, Tracing Your Irish Ancestors. Great book. 3. Baltimore Patriot Baltimore, Maryland 15 July 1822 County of Galway - As the season advances, distress seems to increase in this quarter. It is stated that many persons, having no other alternatives, have sold their shirts and shifts, with other linen and cotton articles, to the agents of the paper makers, to avert for a moment the ravages of hunger. Fever being prevalent, many have died, and some persons have been buried without a coffin.

The Burns Library (Irish studies and rare books manuscrips) is tighter security but an ID will do. Hope this helps, Dave **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? ANYTHING that concerns or relates to County Galway and its' ties to Ireland and the rest of the world, whether it be genealogy, culture, history, folklore, mythology, heritage, tradition, religion, pedigrees, lineage, ancestry, places, things, individuals, families or groups of people, are topics for discussion on the list. Surname queries are certainly welcomed, but the list is wide open to whatever topic/s the participants choose to embark on as long as the central theme tends to relate to Galway.
